Designed to integrate seamlessly with the complete range of Mirage stereo and home theater speakers, the Mirage Omni S8 100-Watt Powered 8-Inch Subwoofer (Platinum) is the smallest member of the Omni subwoofer series, yet still delivers a powerful bass performance. The Omni S8 is equipped with proprietary Elliptical Surround technology to increase excursion, eliminate distortion, and raise efficiency. This means the subwoofer can play lower (down to 27 Hz) and with greater output and fidelity than competing subs without shaking the cabinet (or the room) in the slightest. This feature alone makes the Omni S8 a valuable addition to almost any home theater system.
Elliptical Surround Technology works by restricting the woofer cone, which traditionally flexes inward and outward in an unpredictable pattern. The Elliptical Surround's cone instead moves identically in either direction, which keeps the sound from distorting during particularly loud or powerful passages. The design also allows for a larger cone surface and greater peak-to-peak movement, resulting in greater efficiency and nearly double the excursion when compared to conventional subs.
The Mirage Omni S8 100-Watt Powered 8-Inch Subwoofer (Platinum) also sports a down-firing port, which uses the floor as a loading surface to boost output without increasing port noise. Meanwhile, the 8-inch woofer and 100-watt RMS internal amplifier produce natural, realistic sound with terrific depth. Additional features include easy-to-adjust level, frequency, and phase controls (all are located on the front panel); high- and low-level connections (including LFE); a power mode selection; and a variable 40 to 120 Hz low-pass filter.
The Omni S8, which comes in a sleek platinum finish, measures 11.7 by 14.6 by 15.3 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty.
