Break free from conventional speaker design with the Mirage OmniSat Omnipolar Speaker (Platinum/Black) , which projects sound in a perfect 360-degree three-dimensional sphere. Unlike conventional front-firing speakers, which generally boast a 70/30 ratio of direct-to-reflected sound, the OmniSat's omnipolar technology achieves a 30/70 ratio--the same ratio proportion found in live theaters and other common acoustic environments. The resulting audio is incredibly true to life, giving unparalleled depth and feel to everything from elegant symphonies to big-budget movie spectacles. In addition, the spherical design gives you the freedom to place the speakers just about anywhere--in the back corner, on a bookshelf, near the TV. You don't need to find a sound "sweet spot" to enjoy powerful, crisp audio; wherever the speakers go, great sound follows.
Each Mirage OmniSat Omnipolar Speaker (Platinum/Black) --which can be paired with a second OmniSat in a stereo system or four others in a 5.1 surround sound setup--is loaded under the hood. The OmniSat's 1-inch Pure Titanium Hybrid (PTH) tweeter first made its appearance in Mirage's M1 bipolar speakers, and is widely recognized for its crystal-clear, lifelike high-frequency reproduction and minimal distortion. The tweeter dome also sports a compliant cloth suspension, which eliminates the harsh ringing effect often produced by metal domes. The 4-inch mid-bass driver, meanwhile, is made of injection-molded polypropylene impregnated with graphite, carbon, and mica and coated with titanium. This melding of materials combines with the Santoprene rubber surrounds to provide increased strength and flexibility in a super-light cone body, making the mids and lows sound tight, accurate, and powerful.
The components are housed in a sleek platinum/black aluminum body that delivers low resonance but a big sound. Other construction details include magnetic shielding, which lets you place the speakers next to or on top of a TV without disturbing the video image, and high-quality five-way binding posts for the best possible sound reproduction. The OmniSat even comes with a dual key-way bracket on the rear for easy wall-mounting, along with a clip that makes ceiling installations a snap.
Specifications include a frequency response of 70 Hz to 20 kHz and recommended power handling of 10 to 150 watts RMS. Each OmniSat speaker measures 6.25 by 8 by 8 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a five-year warranty on parts and labor. The speakers are also available in platinum, black, and white, depending on which color best fits your room decor.
